This audiobook was good. The actress who read the book read it splendly and it was enjoyable to listen too. The author was very descriptive in the story so much so that I could imagine myself there. I really liked the main character Karou and I from what I heard in this audiobook this author is an excellent writer. I do think the plot was creative and a fresh and new idea however the plot wasnt for me. I cant wait to see what this author has in store for readers next! Even though the story/plot wasnt for me I would very highly recomend this audiobook it is great listening!

I am so glad I got a chance to review this book. It was by an author I had never read or heard of before so that is always fun finding new books by authors who are new to you. This book was good. I liked the cover alot. The book was well written and the plot easy to follow. The characters were good but I couldnt chose a favorite. I would highly recomend this book.

This book was ok. I really liked the cover. I got uninterested in this book because I was a little disappointed in it. form the book summary it sounded like it was going to be kind of like a bridge to Terabitha (which I love that book) but it wasnt. I think I would recommend it however.

Little Gem Necklaces are supposed to be for special occasions mine that I chose was for my college Graduation in May so in the middle of the circle on my necklace it says 2012 and then my schools name and the two little gems that are on it are green and gold which are the school colors. I loved how they let me personalize this for any occassion I would like. I love how its a unique product two that noby else will probaly have! I am so happy with this product its great I love it. This is a Star Trek book. While I am not a big fan of Star Trek this book was pretty good. At frist I was not sure how Star Trek would translate form the screen to the page but after reading and reviewing this and other star trek books its clear that it can. This book was not my favorite but I would recomend it.

My review:
I thought this was a nice cookbook. I liked the setup of it. There are many really useful and affordable recipies here which I really liked that. The cover and title of the book was also creative. I would highly recomend this cookbook!

My review:
I thought this book was ok I liked the chance that I got to read a new author and I also loved that this was a historical romance novel. It was well written. I also really liked the cover of this book and thought it was very eye cacthing. I would recomend this book.

I thought this book was great! It was very informative and I liked the fact that it was not written in a boring tone for being a non fiction book. I enjoyed this book very much and I would highly recomend it.

I thought this book was ok it wasnt one of my favorites but it was well written and had a good plot. I think I would recomend this book as well but the book in general just wasnt for me.

My review:
This but was ok but not a book for me. I did not enjoy it. I really wish I would of but I just could not connect with the book. I would like to say however that this was well written for a first novel but I still do not think that I would recomend it.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I wasnt disapointed. I thought this book was cute and fun and an enjoyable read. I will admit that I pefered the other book I have read of hers Black Ties and Lullubies better than this one but they were both good this one just wasnt my favorite. I would recomend this book however.

Many writers have certain genes in their DNA. We're the kids who always have their nose in a book, who live in the library (my first paying job was as a page—yes, a page in the library), are loners, and inordinately fond of fairy tales. I grew up reading my oldest sister's gigantic Golden Book of Fairy Tales until it fell apart. I loved the book because it had fairy tales that I'd never read before, like "Bright, Deardeer and Kit" and Japanese fairy tales (growing up half-Japanese without seeing any references to Japanese stories, this seemed very enlightened to me). I also loved the slightly horrible things kept in those translations, like how frogs and snakes would fall from a villain's lips whenever she (the main characters were often female, another plus) told a lie. Once we'd all grown up, my oldest sister decided she wanted it back. I pined for it and thought I'd never find it again, but to my delight my husband had a copy from his childhood—in pristine condition! It's one of my prized possessions.

My Review:
This book was ok. It got a bit "out there" for me so thats what made me not enjoy this book that much. However I did enjoy this authors writing style. This book though is also very long and im not sure if I would recomend it.

I also would like to add that I really like the artwork on the paperback version of this book.

My review:
ok so I am a huge Dickens fan so when I saw this book I was kind of hesistant about it but it was great. This is the second adaptation of a book I have read by Sheri Browning Erwin and so far I have not been disapointed yet (I did enjoy Jane Slayre more but this was still a good book) the author really didnt navigate to far away form the original I think. I enjoyed this book and would highly recomend it.

I thought this book was good and well written however I would have perfered to read the other books that came before this one in theseries first it was still an enjoyable read. This audiobook/book was ok. I have enjoyed stuff by this author before but now it seems like her stories are all rather similar so that makes them not enjoyable anymore. Another thing that made this audiobook unenjoyable is that it keep changing narrators which got confusing and annoying. I would not recomend this audiobook (or the book itself because I did read the book version too) unless you are a big fan of this author.

This audiobook was an enjoyable listening experience. I loved all the voices the actress gave to the characters while reading this book. Because of my enjoyment of this book I want to read the rest of the books in this series. (but too that was my only complaint about this Heartless was book 4 in the Pastoral Protecterate series so I was kind of lost at first as to what was going on but besides that everything was great) I would definatly recomend this audiobook its a great story to listen to and its also alot of fun to listen to as well.

I thought this book was ok. I got kind of bored with it and I would have perfered if the recipies in this book would of been in the back because with them scatered in the text I thought it made the book seem choppy and harder to read. I would not recomend this book.

My Review:
I thought this was a nice and enjoyable read. It wasnt my favorite. I like the other novels I have read by her alot better but this wasnt bad and thats why I would recomend it. I also liked the fact that it was a historical romance and I liked the cover of the book as well.

My review:
I didnt enjoy this book and its probably because I have not read any of the others so I did not understand what was going on sometimes. Also I thought I give this book a try because it would be a different read for me but I ended up not being interested in it. I would not recomend this book to anyone unless they were a fan of the series or games.

My review:
I had high hopes for this book and was somewhat let down. The book is supposed to be crazy and fun which it was funny at some points but I wasnt drawn into the story. I think one of the problem with this book was the authors tone. Also this book was supposed to be a coming of age novel but Angela really isnt out on her own till towards the end of the book so it make the book seem drawn out. The way the book ends is also a confusing thing (which I wont ruin for you). The cover of this book I thought was cool and very eye apealling. I think I might recocomend this book since its not horrible.

My review:
I thought this book was ok but the tone of the book did bore me. I liked the fact that this was based off a true story because I love learning about history and stuff that has happened etc. The cover of this book to I also thought was apporiate (maybe not eye appealing but apporiate) I think I might recomend this book to someone who thinks they might like reading this kind of thing.

Q&A:

Why did you want to write this book?
 I never know why I want to write a book. Mostly it is because the story just wants out. I walk around with all these characters in my head and at some point they want to go on their quest and I just have to start writing.

Who or what inspires you to write?
 Reading inspires me a lot and watching movies. People around me inspire me as well. Actually this story is inspired by stories my dad used to tell me. I have always had an interest in gypsies and loved the stories my dad would tell about their music, dancing and fluttering skirts. Actually he used to tell me that I was really a gypsy. That they had found me on the doorstep at our house with a note and that one day my real parents would come and get me. It was just for fun and I didn’t believe him (he also told my brother that they had bought him at the zoo – from the monkeycage) but some part of me wanted that to be my story. I wanted to be different than the regular middle-class girl that I was. I wanted to go to exotic places and dance like he told me they did. I wanted an adventure of my own.

what are you working on next?
I am currently working on a new series that wil be launched in late august. It is also in the Y/A fantasy/supernatural genre but has more romance to it and the main character is a few years older than Sara in The Eye of the Crystal Ball. The series title will (probably - could still be changed) be "The Afterlife". It is about a girl that wakes up and finds out she is dead.

Furthermore I am working on a sequel to The Eye of the Crystal Ball.

The story in this book is good its a little cliched but still nice. I liked the cover art alot on this book and I enjoyed reading it and since I think others will enjoy reading it too thats why im recomending it.

This anthology of retold fairy tales are good. I enjoyed this book alot of course there were some stories I enjoyed more than others and there wer some stories in the book that I wasnt familar with the original of it so that was interesting to learn more about these stories. The covers somewhat appealing and I would recomend this anthology its a worthwhile read.

This book was ok. It was interesting and inspiring to read about what she went through etc but I think how it was written is what turned me off to the book because I found it boring and I dont think I would recomend this book.

I thought this was a good historical romance. It was nice to read an author that I hadnt read before. I wish though I would of read the first book in this series before I read this one but thats the way it goes sometimes. I thought this book was good. I thought the story was good and the cover was appealing. I liked the characters and I would recomend this book.

I thought this was a good well written thriller. It wasnt my favorite but it wasnt terrible. I would definatly recomend this book.

How did you chose the setting and time period for your books?

The short answer is that I read a lot of Regency historical romances, so it seemed natural for me to write one. In fact, Judith McNaught who is credited with inventing the Regency historical romance wrote the first romance I ever read in 1989: Almost Heaven. Back then, I tried several different types of romances. I even read a few contemporary series romances. I even tried reading western historical romances, but inevitably I always returned to my first love, the Regency historical romance.

A few years later, I went back to college where I read some of Jane Austen’s novels. Reading Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility, Emma, and Persuasion served to enhance my love of the Regency time period. I love the wit of the poets, especially Byron. Also, there’s a sense of freedom in the way the women dress in their breezy empire gowns. And who doesn’t appreciate the way the Regency heroes show off their manly attributes in their tight trousers? Another aspect of the period I adore is that love had finally become the reason for marriage.

Interestingly, I also took a class in Victorian Literature. While I enjoyed the class and the literature very much, I haven’t gotten the urge to change time periods. Perhaps one day I’ll venture there, but for now, I’m happily writing Regency-set historical romances.

My Review:
I thought this book was just ok, it wasnt horrible but it wasnt great. There were a few funny parts but I didnt love this book overall. I still think I would recomend this book just because it wasnt for me doesnt mean that it wont be for someone else.

Oogy

Oogy The dog only a family could love
by Larry Levine

Here I am going to be reviewing both the hardback version of this as well as the audiobook version. I love dog books and I am a dog lover thats why I was extremely disappointed with this book. To me the book was more about the owner than the dog, I would have loved it if it was more about the dog but like I said there might be whole pages were he was talking about turning on the lights, what he had for breakfast, his routine, etc and that what made it boring as well. Im not sure why he titled the book the way he did since it wasnt all about the dog. And yes I know all dog stories cant be the same and arent but I rather hear more about Oogy's antics than about what his owner had for breakfast that morning. I know this review might be harsh and I do think that Oogy has a great story I just dont think it was portrayed properly. I will give two positives though I thought the actor who read the audiobook was very good and I liked that the book had pictures of Oogy. I would not recomend this book or the audiobook however.

This book was good for being a first book from an author but for me it was only ok and not one of my favorites. Any thriller novel lover would absolutly love this book however I believe. This author is very good at suspense. This novel however just wasnt for me but I still think I would recomend it.

My Review:
This book was not for me. It focused way too much on the other characters instead of the main character making Clem come off as whiney and annoying because she complians about her sisters way too much. I was disapointed and lost interest with this book. I wouldnt recomend it.

Road to recovery

So I would like to welcome Alyssa Fox to my blog today she will be doing a post on her new book Road to recovery. I  would also like to thank her for doing a post on my blog as well!

First off, I want to thank Autumn for having me on her blog today. She asked me to blog about how I came up with the plot, my characters for my debut book Road to Recovery. Well, I was writing another medical book at the time, and it just came to me while cleaning my house. I know, glamorous life right? I was trying hard to get a contract with Harlequin’s Medical line at the time, but have since learned my sex scenes are too steamy for them.




Anyways so, I thought what would happen if two doctor’s were competing for the same mentorship at the hospital. Then I thought what if they were both attracted to each other, but they didn’t want to admit it to one another. And that’s how the book was started. It was a fast write for me both characters came to me really stronger.



Kyle came to me first, and he was very demanding in my head. I mean, what else would you expect from an alpha man, but that? At first he didn’t want to tell me his dark secrets, but finally, I was able to squeeze it out of him. Since I started writing I’ve never had a character surprise me with their back story, but he sure did. As I wrote more he still at times would reveal things I never saw coming throughout the book. He even made me cry while writing in a few places with the things he had been through with losing his wife and daughter.



Erin pretty much laid it all out there on the line for me as I started writing their story. She was one pissed off woman that a man had used her in the past. And she wasn’t looking to fall in love at all. She had a neatly outlined five year plan, and no one was going to mess with it. Then the mentorship came along, and she could move that plan up to a two year plan. She never even saw Kyle coming to knock her on her butt and turn her plan upside down. She didn’t take to kindly to it either.



I’ll admit the title took me some time to come up with. It gave me so much trouble to come up with. And then one day it hit me really hard out of all the words I had thrown together. My family more than likely thought I had lost my mind, as I was asking them does this work. So that’s how I came up with my plot, characters and the title of the book.

Erin leaned back in her chair. She sat surrounded by the tomes she’d pulled from the shelves. It made no sense to her. The tests she’d been waiting for had all come back fine. Those two hours she’d hoped it would take had turned to six. She was still waiting for an ultrasound report, which should be coming any moment. She placed the latest report on the table and reached her hand to her head, slowly rubbing her temples. It wasn't like her not to be able to figure out what was going on with a patient. She dreaded the look on the parents' faces when she had to tell them. Sometimes it seemed like days before reports came back, and that was the only part of her job she hated. Her stomach knotted as she glanced at the clock. Only twenty minutes before she had to give them an update.

Her mind wandered back to the meeting six hours ago, and the way her body had warmed under Kyle's gaze. It had only been for a brief moment. Girl, you seriously need to get laid, that's all it is. There's nothing to the way he looked at you. You're imagining things.

“Good afternoon, Erin,” She jumped at the deep voice coming from her left. A glance over her shoulder confirmed what she already knew.

Kyle.

“Afternoon.” She fumbled to grab the chart in front of her, hoping he'd leave. He sat down next to her. His gaze singed her cheeks, but she couldn't look up; instead, she concentrated on the chart in front of her.

The memory of their first week working together came to her mind again. When she walked into the office, she'd been drawn to Kyle, who had sat in a chair across the small room, so arrogant and sure of himself. Kyle wasn't her type at all; she normally stuck with the safe, boring guys. Everything about him had screamed he was more. Just once, she wanted to take a chance and not do what everyone else expected. It had been time to let go and have some fun. Well, that's what she had wanted to do, and based on his flirting he’d seemed to be into her too.

For a moment, her mind drifted back to the dance they’d shared at the Christmas party three years ago. Against her best judgment, she’d said yes to Kyle's offer to dance. Really, what could one little dance do? Boy was that ever wrong, from the moment he’d taken her in his arms. She could feel the chemistry between them. The smoldering heat took over, and she couldn't think of anything but him, as fire raced down her spine, consuming her. Her mind told her to break the dance, that it had been a mistake, and yet she couldn't. The pull between them was greater than her need to move away.

Instead of taking a chance on Kyle, she’d gone the safe route and starting dating Dr. Lopez. Someone she had thought was ready to settle down and start a family like she had been. Too bad the safe route had turned into the biggest mistake of her life. It had caused her to re-examine her plans. To wait until she was more established in her career before she seriously started dating again.

She continued pointedly ignoring Kyle, and relief washed over her when Jenny, one of her interns, walked up and said, "Here's the CAT scan report."

“Thanks,” she said, taking the report. She studied it. Erin closed her eyes and rubbed her forehead. This keeps getting crazier. She opened her eyes slowly to skim over the report again. Nothing had changed. “This makes no sense,” she whispered, more to herself than to anyone else.

“What's doesn't make sense?” Kyle asked.

Setting down the piece of paper, she turned to look at him. “I've got a three year old patient, and it shows he has no appendix, yet he has all the classic symptoms of having appendicitis. I don't get it; I've run every test I can think of.”

“Here, let me take a look at his chart.”

Erin handed him the chart and watched him as he read it. His eyebrows drew together as he concentrated. Her fingers itched to trace the scar above his right eye, and she wondered how he'd gotten the injury. He cleared his throat, jarring her back to reality.

“This doesn't make sense. Come on, I want to check him out myself.” Kyle stood.

Although she wasn’t crazy about his taking over like that, she was so relieved to have another brain working on the problem that she let it slide. Her bruised ego was nothing compared to the well-being of her young patient.

Kyle’s hand brushed against the small of her back as he let her precede him into the room. Shivers of pleasure raced down her spine so quickly they were gone in an instant.

I thought this book was an ok read. It was a different thing for me to read but it wasnt one of my favorites. I dont picture myself reading other books like this in this series (if there are any) and I dont think that I would recomend this book.

This was a fun and cute comtempary romance. I enjoyed reading this book very much! The characters were very realatable and the plot was good. I also liked the cover of this book and the colors they use on the book it makes it very attractive and appealing to the eye. I would recomend this book. I think it would be a perfect summer beach read.

This was a pretty good suspence novel. It did keep me guessing untill the end but it wasnt one of my favorites. I would recomend it for people who like thriller/suspence novels but that many be the only group who will enjoy it. It is a very long read but like I said before the story is not bad.

I thought this was a very good paranormal romance novel. It was enjoyable to read and I liked the characters (most of whom were vampires). I liked reading this book as well because this author was a new author for me so its nice reading something fresh and different at times. Like so many romance readers, my first romance novel was by Kathleen Woodiwiss - The Flame and the Flower, to be exact. I was thirteen. I spent the next month ignoring my friends while I worked my way through her back list. Shortly thereafter I discovered Judith McNaught, Johanna Lindsey, Karen Robards, Catherine Coulter, Shirlee Busbee among others, and devoured their lavish historical epics full of overbearing alpha males and the women who brought them to their knees. I was hooked. My high school teachers marveled at my ability to read romance novels under the desk and still score straight A's. I started to imagine myself, living in a cabin in the mountains somewhere, writing romance novels.


It took me quite awhile to pursue my dream. After graduating from Stanford with a degree in English Literature, I worked in a variety of not so interesting admin jobs before I began my career in marketing. It wasn't exactly my dream job, but at least my writing appeared on several web sites and in many software marketing brochures. Unfortunately I wasn't able to fit the phrase "and her loins melted like hot wax" into any of them.
During my stint as the world's surliest receptionist, I took my first stab at writing. The result was a very melodramatic western historical which reads like a bad Elizabeth Lowell rip off. It's currently languishing on my hard drive, forever stuck on page 330.

Then in fall 2001 I had an incredible stroke of luck and got laid off from my marketing job. I decided it was time to stop saying I wanted to be a writer and to actually give it a serious go. Fortunately my husband, a socially well adjusted alpha male, is a very generous patron of the arts.

Four years later, I sold my first book and now I'm pretty much living the dream of getting paid to write romance. I don't live in a cabin in the mountains, but I do live in a rural-ish town near San Francisco (hey, we have deer and bunnies, along with the occasional coyote) with my husband, 2 sons, and a dog who patiently listens to my dialogue and helps me work out plot points. When I'm not writing, I enjoy running, reading, cooking, and watching a brain numbing quantity of food network programming.

My Review:
I thought this book was ok. I liked that it was romantic supense with is I romantic genre I dont usally read but I thought I would try it. It turns out however that this book wasnt a book for me. However because of its writing style and characters thats why I would saw it was ok, but I dont think I would recomend it.
