Listen Up
This is my 5th post as part of my participation of Audiobook week at Devourer of Books.
Q.Where do you learn about great audiobook titles?
A. From many of the Mainstream Publishing Companies and I also review for Audiobook Jukebox, and I am a member of Hachette Audios group on bookblogs.ning (however they havent had any titles up for review since last summer so I havent reviewed for them lately)
Q.Find reviews?
A.Publishing sites, Amazon, and AudioJukebox,and blogs that I follow that review audiobooks.
Q.Buy your audiobooks?
A. My Audiobooks I get that I review are provided by the person, group,etc that I review them for so technically I do not buy them. However I do buy Audiobooks at the library book sales that happen around where I live (and I live near 3 libraries!) so that is where I get them. Or if I want to listen to something new I check it out form the library.

Narrators
This is my 4th post as part of my participation in Audiobook Week at The Devouer of Book.
Q. Who are your favorite narrators and why?
A. I really dont have one yet. I like narrators though who are animated and have good tone and actually perform.
Q. What do you look for in a narrator?
A. That they perform without being too over dramatic (unless its called for), that their tone of voice is good, and that they dont just sit there and read the book that they put some life into the book.
Q. Have a preference between male or female narrators?
A. No I do not have a preference Ill listen to anything no matter who the narrator is.

I have never really thought about this because I just listen to whatever I can get my hands on. I do have some ideas on narrators though... This audio book was very factual and historicaly accurate and I really like historal non fiction books because I love history but I am going to have to say that this book was an ok listening experience overall. I apricciate how much time and effort it took for the research of this book and I really have no qualms with what the author wrote, it is how it was performed that made me say this was just an ok audio book.
The narration of this audio book was bad because of the tone, the narration voice was just so boring that at times it felt like the book was draging or made me want to fall alsleep and I dont like that because it just prolongs the sterotype that history is boring (which its not). I know WWI is a somber event and I dont think the narration should have been happy or anything like that but it shouldnt have been monotone either which is what it felt like.
The cover art of this audio book was good. A little boring because the box is white but the picture on the front is effective and sets the mood of the time period. I would reccomend this in book because I think history lovers would still like it if they can get over the narration (but if not print form might be a better read)

My novel, THE MERYL STREEP MOVIE CLUB (June 2012, Simon & Schuster/Gallery Books), is set in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, one of my favorite towns and just about an hour up the coast from where I live. What inspired THE MERYL STREEP MOVIE CLUB was not only my love of films and Meryl Streep in particular, but the way movies can change a person and spark conversation. Two people can see the same movie very differently! One night, during a rocky weekend with my mother and grandmother, who weren't getting along, we gathered together to watch The Bridges of Madison County, a favorite of mine that I'd seen at least 3 times. Well, the discussion that movie led to changed our relationship that night. We talked for hours about the issues the film raised and each of us revealed things we normally wouldn't have said. We opened up and our relationship was markedly different from then on.
And so a novel was born.
My favorite Meryl Streep movie? I love so many, but my favorite is Out of Africa. What I love about Meryl Streep (so much that I devoted my novel to ten of her oustanding films) is how exceptional she is at range--from breathtakingly serious to hilariously funny. And to be honest, I just love her face. I think she's exquisite!
I'm not only a movie fan--I'm a huge reader. My favorite books range from childhood favorites such as Anne of Green Gables and Little Women (I've always liked to think those March sisters were my own :) and current favorite authors include Anne Tyler, Elin Hilderbrand, Elinor Lipman, Marisa de los Santos, Fay Weldon, Beth Hoffman, Jennifer Weiner, Sarah Addison Allen, Jane Green, Anne Lamott, Richard Russo, Stephen King, Maeve Binchy, Claire Cook, Jennifer Crusie, Pam Houston, Elizabeth Berg, and many more. I love big-hearted, emotional novels about life and love. I also love memoirs and all kinds of non-fiction. I'm currently reading WILD by Cheryl Strayed and can't put it down.

Ok I have to say like most people I really like Meryl Streep so when I got to read this book I was excited. This book overall was just ok for me . Yes it is funny and sad at moments and some of the characters are good but it just wasnt one of my favorites. I think with a fun title like the book has the author could have made it alot more fun, rather then making it a somewhat somber or more serious book. I will say though that for a first book the writting was good. I think I would reccomend this book it would make a nice beach read and there are some people out there who would love this kind of book.

I am a dog lover so I am so happy that I got a chance to review this book. This book was good. It was well written (however I did not like the writting style). I liked the characters and was interested in what happened to them. I also liked the cover art I think its really cool. I like the point of view that this book was told form as well. My review:
This book was ok. I had read the other books in the series (moringstar stain) and I liked them better. This book did have good charracters and a good and interesting plot. Another thing I noticed while reading this book was that the authors writing style improved compared to the first book (which does happen). I also thought the cover art was cool on this book but it wasnt one of my favorites. I would reccomend this book to people who like this genre of books.

My review:
This book was ok. I had read the other books in the series (moringstar stain) and I liked them better. This book did have good charracters and a good and interesting plot. Another thing I noticed while reading this book was that the authors writing style improved compared to the first book (which does happen). I also thought the cover art was cool on this book but it wasnt one of my favorites. I would reccomend this book to people who like this genre of books.

I am a history lover so when I got a chance to review this audio book I was very excited. It is very factual and did get dry at times but I enjoyed listening to it. I respect that the author did alot of research on this book but when he did his research it was 1955 (which is when the print version of the book came out) so I kind of wish there was some updated research added to it by another author or something like that, Eventhough it was "dated" you did get alot of info from it (a majority I already knew, some I didnt).
As for the narration it was ok. Sometimes his voice was interesting but sometimes his voice seemed a bit boring. Although this narration was better than others Ive heard. I understand that this book is non fiction but he could have been a little more animated in his voice, so like I said before I would say the narration was ok overall.
This was a very informational audiobook that I would have to say is must read for Titanic fans and history buffs alike.

This book was an ok read. It wasnt one of my favorites but it had a nice story and nice characters. I liked the cover art on it. I thought this was a fun contempary romance novel. I did prefer her other books that I have read better but this one was ok. I liked the cover. I think this would make a great beach read and I would have to say that I do reccomend this book.

I have to say I am a big Doctor who fan so I do love anything that has to do with Doctor Who, So when I got a chance to review this I was very excited and overall it didnt disappoint. On both of the stories I liked the plots and thought they were very good and enjoyable to listen to (I wish they would have made them into Doctor Who episodes because both stories are really good). I think one great thing about both of these were that they were very vivid and you could picture everything that was happening in your mind. The writters evern made Amy and Rory characters not annoying which was good (I am not a big fan of the characters of Amy or Rory on the show I think they get annoying at times) but I actually liked them in these audio stories.
The narration of both of these audio stories were good. I prefered the narration in Blackout better because he was a little more animated than the narrator of The Art of Death in my opinion. The Art of Death Narration was good but at times her voice got a little boring although I did like her character voices. In both stories the narrators had distinct character voices for all the characters and I think they were all very good.
